RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Utility Planning team with:
Gathering and interpreting data and performing statistical analysis to support the development of Minnesota Power's Short and Long Term energy supply modeling and associated reports
Performing research on resource planning topics in preparation for the companies next Integrated Resource Plan.
The development of statistical tools, processes, and documentation for energy supply modeling
Modeling input setup and maintenance of existing modeling tools for Short and Long Term Planning
Become familiar with state and regional power industry rules, policy, and standards
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills required to build and maintain internal and external working relationships
Demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills required to manage assigned tasks
REQUIREMENTS:
Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027
Preferred majors include: Statistics, Finance, or Economics
Strong preference to have completed introduction level statistical analysis classes, including coursework in regression modeling
Familiarity with a statistical model, such as SAS Analytics Software or similar software
Experience in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint
Experience with VBA code development is preferred
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Candidate must be adaptive to changing work projects and priorities plus be highly analytical
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information and analysis
Candidates may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, or aptitude
DETAILS & DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:
This internship will report in person to Duluth, MN
This role is anticipated to begin June 2025
The internship will be full time during summer with the possibility of extending to a part time basis during academic terms up until graduation
ALLETE will comply with college requirements
Hours and duration are subject to change based on company needs
