Groundskeeper (Maintenance)
To mow, weed eat, edge and perform other duties to maintain campus grounds.
Plant and maintain flower beds including weed control, pruning, and mulching as needed.
Supervise assigned student employees.
Assist Grounds Supervisor with snow/ice removal from walkways, parking lots, and drives on campus.
Communicates with persons of various backgrounds professionally and in a courteous manner.
Complies with University safety policy at all times.
Attends departmental and/or University meetings.
Attends professional development seminars and/or classes periodically that pertain to the area of responsibilities (including essential functions) of this position.
Assists other physical plant disciplines when directed.
Regular attendance and punctuality.
Sets an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, faculty, and staff.
Commitment and adherence to Southwest Baptist University's Principles and Expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Required
High school diploma or GED and one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Availability on an on-call basis for emergencies after hours.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred
Associate's degree in grounds related discipline.
Experience with herbicides.
One year supervisory experience.
Work Environment
Ability to work in various environments including outdoor environments with adverse weather conditions construction/renovation sites, and typical office environments. Regularly exposed to chemicals, dust, odors, oil, fumes, vibration, and noise. May be required to work on and/or around slippery surfaces both indoors and out. Subject to working near machinery, power tools, and vehicles in motion. On occasion, may be exposed to confined spaces, required to climb onto rooftops, and to access other related physical plant areas.
Physical Abilities
Regularly required to sit, walk, talk and hear. Visual ability needed to inspect work, view computer monitor, and read MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).
Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to traverse steps multiple times a day.
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and get in and out of the vehicle frequently during each work day.
Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder.
