The Clinical Supervisor is part of a 24/7 Mobile Crisis Response and Crisis Intervention Team, providing services to individuals of all ages experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises. Operating with significant independence, the Clinical Supervisor handles complex clinical and case management tasks under general direction. This role involves overseeing the clinical work of both licensed and unlicensed clinicians, ensuring high-quality care for clients while supporting the professional growth of supervisees. Responsibilities include monitoring clinical documentation to ensure compliance with Medi-Cal and Fresno County DBH standards, assisting with audit preparation, and providing clinical education and training to staff. The Clinical Supervisor must stay current on BBS licensure requirements for ACSWs, AMFTs, and APCCs, complete all CEU certification requirements, and maintain knowledge of local resources for collaboration and care coordination.
How will I contribute
Responsible for meeting weekly with unlicensed clinicians to provide individual and group supervision and verify clinical work and supervision hours toward licensure. Participate in 24/7 ON-Call rotation with other Fresno Co. crisis services clinical supervisors and program managers and be available to provide clinical consultation to clinicians needing support during a crisis call. May perform comprehensive intake assessments for persons with serious mental illness or serious emotional disturbance seeking Specialty Mental Health Services throughout the county utilizing culturally sensitive, client/family-centered, strength-based, and wellness and recovery models of service delivery. Maintain professional and friendly interactions and collaboration with Fresno Co. DBH to meet contractual obligations. Knowledgeable about Trauma informed Care. Maintain professional and friendly interactions and collaboration with other community partners. Provide advocacy and systemic support for client mental health and community activities. In the absence of the Clinical/Program Manager, provide selected administrative directions to the team. Assist in developing and monitoring policies and procedures as assigned. Assist the Clinical/Program Manager and the treatment team in preparing for chart audits. Maintain service logs and produce department statistics and reporting as assigned. Maintain Microsoft Shift staff schedule as assigned. Develop, provide, and participate in training on a variety of topics, such as cultural competency, clinical practice, compliance, treatment planning, and case management. Also, make presentations to local agencies and community groups regarding issues related to mental health and/or substance abuse. Stay current on legal and ethical standards for the profession and educate staff about changes in CA laws affecting the mental health profession. Maintain compliance and awareness of BBS licensing requirements for all AMFT, ACSW, and APCC clinicians. May encounter risk while working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but are not limited to, persons in a mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff must call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with the supervisor as soon as possible. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program.
What I bring
Master Degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or related LCSW Required Class C Driving License 3 years of professional experience working in mental health counseling, psychotherapy, and related social services in a public or certified private welfare or health agency. 2 years post licensure. 1 year experience supervising/directing others. Experience in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning is required. Working knowledge of community and hospital resources. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet access. Ability to quickly develop rapport with individuals to resolve crisis situations. Ability to assess individuals potential for dangerousness to self, others and/or grave disability. Ability to utilize computer technology as required for admission, documentation and other uses. Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to make a differential diagnosis between substance abuse and psychiatric emergencies. Ability to appropriately and immediately document interactions with patients and potential patients. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
