(Sr.) Lead Business Consultant (Finance)

The (Sr.) Lead Business Consultant is responsible for two main functional areas within the department's Business Analysis (BA) Practice with the objective that the BA Practice drives significant value for PJM:
Setting and maintaining BA Practice standards and processes: This includes developing and maintaining related documentation, providing training to staff (for onboarding and proficiency), and liaising with internal stakeholders on content to ensure practices are aligned with PJM internal policies, processes and procedures.
Operating the Business Analyst Practice: Includes coordinating the onboarding and assignment of qualified business analysts to PJM projects, providing support, mentoring and oversight to ensure staff have what they need to do their job well, and clients receive what they need for their projects to be successful; Includes the monthly BA meeting, participating in the project management community of practice, and other forums to educate and support BAs and key stakeholders
Also requires leading the interview and selection process for hiring contingent workers from PJM suppliers, and working with those suppliers to manage performance and meet project expectations.
Essential Functions:
Lead the analysis of high-impacted business project to define objectives, scope, and deliverables in support of the project team.
Utilizing knowledge of project needs to staff projects with qualified BAs through interviewing and selecting contract staff or rotating existing staff with minimal disruption.
Supervise and support a team of business analysts, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to perform their tasks effectively.
Gains feedback from business owners, other leaders, and service providers including project managers regularly on business analyst performance to provide continuous improvement.
Present on the BA Practice Value, methods, and operating model to various audiences, including project staff, members of the LT, SLT, and ET to build support, communicate value, and manage on-going expectations for what the practice can accomplish.
Oversee and actively participate where needed in the elicitation, documentation, and validation of business requirements in support of business analysts. Coordinate multiple business analysis project, ensuring quality, and assigning resource allocation.
Lead efforts to optimize business processes by identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending innovative solutions.
Mentor and guide business analysts, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing. Reinforce the established best practices, standards, and standard operating procedures for business analysis processes. Provide strategic direction, training, and development to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Identify project performance metrics and provide data-driven insights to optimize processes.
Provide templates of reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
Understand the impact of business requirements for related NERC, FERC, Operating Agreement, other compliance entities for the divisions that are supported. Documenting the requirements matrix to show adherence.
Develop content and participate in the monthly BA meeting that provides insight to the rest of the BAs around best practices, new support tools, changes to guidelines and processes, etc.
Develop and maintain customer focused relationships while ensuring proper controls are applied including following processes and standards.
Ensure all business analysis activities support the broader strategic goals of the organization.
Stays up to date on industry trends, methodologies, and best practices to continually enhance the effectiveness of business analysts.
Provide support to all BAs as needed to ensure a high quality of business support.
Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
BS degree in Information Technology or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
At least 8 years of experience Business Analyst with three years as BA lead on projects
Ability to solve problems that proactively address customer needs and requirements with innovative, creative, and cost-effective solutions
Ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, and customers
Ability to deliver presentations and/or training using acceptable methods and techniques
Experience documenting and improving business processes
Ability to develop strong relationships with multiple departments and divisions
Experience in mentoring and knowledge management activities
Ability to understand business needs, while establishing and maintaining a high level of customer trust and confidence
Preferred:
MBA in Business Administration
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
Experience supporting any of PJM Committees
Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP)
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
PMI Certified Agile Practitioner Certification (PMI-ACP)
Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
