Overview
The Microbiologist 1 is responsible for monitoring environmental systems and products to provide support for production, facility, engineering, and quality departments.
Responsibilities
• Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control testing of product, environmental monitoring of facilities, and critical systems.
• Perform entry-level method development and R&D projects.
• Perform media preparation, prep glassware, materials, autoclave, etc.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, facility systems, etc.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Trend environmental monitoring data and generate reports.
• Perform accurate and compliant data and record management
• Train, understand, and perform assays according to procedures and regulations (Learn relative regulations as apply to position).
• Must maintain all training requirements for the position, while seeking out opportunities for continuous development and growth.
• Adhere to Quality Management System and its processes to meet FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Must maintain good documentation and laboratory practices.
• Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization.
• Must strictly adhere to safety requirements.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Must maintain company quality and quantity standards.
• Must have effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision.
• Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations
• Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications
• BA/BS in Biology, Microbiology, or related field, or experience of such kind and amount as to provide a comparable background
• Working knowledge and understanding of microbiology laboratory preferred - including environmental sampling and testing requirements, knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Experience in technical writing (i.e. protocols and reports) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to perform reasonable job functions requiring periods of standing, walking, climbing, balancing, lifting up to 50lbs, as well as those requiring manual dexterity, effective listening and communication
• Utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers and equipment.
• Personal protective equipment including safety glasses, lab coat and gloves required in most areas associated with this position
