The Senior Field Process Engineer provides process engineering, technical and project management support for the operation of Enterprise's plants and pipelines in the Western Operations Region, primarily in South Texas. The Engineer, under the direction of the Manager and more senior engineers, ensures that facility upgrades and changes are designed and constructed in accordance with the Company's Engineering guidelines and Specifications, Industry Codes & Standards and Regulatory Agency requirements while also meeting functionality and performance requirements. The Senior Field Process Engineer will support Enterprise's Operations, Maintenance, Commercial, and Distribution departments to ensure that the plants and pipelines operate safely and efficiently. The Engineer will monitor each asset's key performance indicators and provide technical and scope development expertise for capacity maintenance and improvement projects. The Engineer will also be the technical liaison with outside technical services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide technical support to the Company's Operations, Maintenance and Commercial departments including preparing project scope, cost estimate and schedule.
Develop project plan, prepare AFE and lead design and execution activities for construction and alterations of gas and liquids plants and pipelines, including:
Safety and process improvements, employee training and development, community relations, liaison with regulatory agencies and public officials, cost control and reporting and stakeholder communications.
Establish and maintain close relationships with petroleum industry peers, consultants, process and construction specialists, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
Perform plant simulations to establish baselines, simulate modifications and estimate performance enhancements to existing facilities.
Perform and check design calculations and equipment sizing.
Prepare bid packages for equipment and outside services including engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
Participate in reviews of designs prepared by outside engineering contractors, vendors, fabricators, and manufacturers.
Monitor field construction activities to ensure compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
Prepare project completion reports including construction material inventories and as-built drawings.
Lead and participate in MOC, HAZOPs, PSSRs, PSV studies, equipment inspections and other key processes/studies to ensure safe operations and compliance with Regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical Engineering is preferred).
A minimum of 10 years of experience with crude oil and gas gathering; processing and transportation. Technical experience in other industries (chemical and/or refining) will be considered in the final evaluation.
Proficiency in basic PC skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
Process modeling software such as Hysys or equivalent.
Strong focus on HSSE and interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to either work alone or as part of a team are essential. Must be able to lead and work with contractors, suppliers, customers and peers to achieve desired results.
Must be proficient in balancing multiple priorities and activities and meet deliverables.
Ability to handle multiple fast-paced projects with constantly changing priorities and scope.
Must be able to travel up to 50% with some overnight stays. The majority of travel will require driving.
Office Environment - Extensive sitting while working with computers, reading, and communicating via telephone.
Field/Plant Environment - exposure to ongoing operations and construction under varying environmental conditions, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, entering vessels and confined spaces wearing a safety harness.
