Department: Natural Sciences Salary: $14.00 per hour, or 'Commensurate with Experience/Education'
Description:

DUTIES:

• Prepares and sets up labs to support biology and chemistry courses
• Maintains inventories of supplies required for lab operation
• Maintains lab cleanliness and ensures that teaching and research labs are in compliance with standard safety
• regulations
• Maintains and troubleshoots analytical biology and chemistry instruments
• Performs all other duties assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Fundamental knowledge and understanding of biology and/or chemistry at or beyond that expected of a science major
• Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to operate various common analytical biology and/or chemistry instruments
• Highly organized and able to carry out tasks independently

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Primary Work Location: Laboratory environment
Physical Demands: Moderate physical activity, including standing and walking for considerable periods. Handling of reagents and instruments commonly associated with biology and chemistry labs. Occasional lifting of light to moderately heavy objects.

Qualifications:

• Must be a current UHD Student

Preferred Qualification:

• A student majoring in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Biological & Physical Sciences
